We visited Crater Lake National Park on September 27th, 2015. We drove in on the 26th from Portland and spent all of the 27th exploring the lake. We walked down to the lake and Ramya took a dip in the cold water. Crater Lake was formed from the collapse of Mt. Mazama and is filled with snow melt and rain water. We stayed in the Crater Lake Lodge which is only open between mid June and Mid October when it is warm enough for the snow to melt. Without light pollution, the night sky is just as awe inspiring as the deep blue water.
